CABP VIDEO HISTORY – 2007 TO
The CABP’s first video in 2007:
The British Pension Anomaly:
The second video was produced in April 2012, and represented a good summary of UK pensioners who choose to live abroad. It graphically describes the problem of pension freezing.
Next, in October 2012 the CABP produced a video depicted the Battle of Britain which had been fought over 60 years ago. Now the CABP is fighting for all British subjects that reside abroad that have their Basic State Pensions frozen, not index linked. This is unfair and discriminatory.
In December 2012, the CABP produced their first TV Ad:
In January 2013, the CABP produced a 30 second television commercial that was aired on the Sportsnet TV channel, during televised UK Premier League soccer matches.
In July 2013, the CABP produced this video which is a humorous “spoof” of an interview between a BBC interviewer and the Minister of Pensions in the UK Government. It is meant to illustrate the illogicality of the current pension indexing rules by pretending to announce a new pension policy.
In October 2013, in the run up to Remembrance Day, Vic Williams, a long time member of the CABP, made a personal appeal to David Cameron who was the British Prime Minister. Vic, a decorated veteran of WW2, made this appeal on behalf of all veterans who are affected by the disgraceful treatment by the UK Government.
In November 2014, Anne Puckridge, a veteran, was interviewed on Sky TV News regarding frozen pensions for Remembrance Day.
On the 31st October, 2018, 93 year-old World War Two veteran Anne Puckridge travelled from Canada to Westminster to meet MPs to tell them her story of living on a frozen pension. On 15 November, Anne then went to Number 10 Downing Street to hand in a petition of 267,100 (and counting) signatures calling for an end to the injustice of frozen pensions.
In October 2018, an “End Frozen Pension” campaign video explained that Anne paid National Insurance contributions all of her working life in the UK until she retired to Canada to be closer to her family. Anne Puckridge, now 97, is a Second World War veteran and should be getting £137.65 and only receives £72.50, She paid National Insurance contributions all of her working life in the UK until she retired to Canada to be closer to her family.
Successive UK Governments have lied, cheated and prevaricated over this issue for more than 70 years. The British government is traitorous and disingenuous to it’s own people based solely on where they choose to retire. Time to engage in this fight for justice. In November 2018, Anne Puckridge discussed this with the BBC…
In November 2018, through the All Party Parliamentary Group for Frozen British Pensions (APPG), and the “End Frozen Pensions” campaign, a Parliamentary Event was held.
March 2021 – Chairman Ian Andexser was asked to present the position of frozen pensioners in Canada to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on International Trade
